A unique combination of traditional forms and details blend beautifully with clean window arrangements to create character to this large cottage. This cottage is a tribute to the American Shingle-Style homes of the 1880's and 1890's. Steep-pitched gabled roof forms, dormers, a round stone tower, several porches, wood columns and grand exterior brick patio are the elements of the exterior composition. The stone wall base below a cedar shingle siding, with crisp clean wood window and door trim gives the home it human scale facade. The concept for the Main Level plan is simple, formal rooms facing the front courtyard, the casual family spaces face the backyard. The Study/Billiards, Living Room, Foyer and Dining Room have a dressed up elegance. The Family Room, Sitting Area, Family Dining and Kitchen are everyday spaces. The L-shaped arrangement of the floor plan creates a front entry courtyard. The stone based tower marks the entry, columns signal the breezeway between the main body of the home and the four car garage. Above the Garage is an apartment or private guest suite. The Main Entry is nestled at the base of the circular tower, marked by stone archway. Directly inside is the two story Foyer. Ornamental wood railings of the u-shaped stair soar upwards to the second floor curved balcony overlook. The stairs and railing create an elegant tapestry of stained hardwood. The second level of this cottage suits a large family. The top of the main stairway overlooks the formal front Foyer and also has a view to the casual Sitting Area. There are three individual bedrooms. Each has walk-in closets and their own bathrooms. The bedrooms can accommodate children or your extended family. The Master Bedroom suite is for the Owners. This suite includes a large bedroom, his and hers walk-in closets with individual toilet facilities. The closet come together at the Master Bath. A raised whirlpool is the accent within a semi-circular space. |
